My Terms learns from your translations and your corrections

Until now, the translation pairs you uploaded to a My Terms set were mainly used to suggest glossary terms. Now the set also learns your sentences and your style, and keeps learning every time you correct a translation.

My Terms · your term sets

What it learns

  • From your example pairs (an original and its translation): it aligns their sentences and draws up a style guide. When translating with that set, it uses your sentences that resemble the document, your guide and the parts of your reference material that relate to it.
  • From your corrections: when you finish an order with a set, we show you the corrections you made. The ones you add to the glossary are also saved as sentences, with the figures masked, and are used when translating similar documents.

How it works

  1. Go to My Terms and open your set.
  2. In Example documents, upload a pair of your own translations. You'll see “Learning from this pair…” and then how many sentences it learned.
  3. Check the Style extracted from your translations. If you like, correct it and click Save style.
  4. Choose the set when you create the order, in Corpus / Glossary. When you finish, tick the corrections you want to keep and add them to the glossary.

Good to know

  • If you correct the style guide by hand, yours takes priority: new pairs no longer change it.
  • The sentences learned from your corrections appear in the set, with the order they came from. You can delete the ones you don't want used.
  • At most 30 sentences are saved per order, and the guide rebuilds itself about every 20 corrections, unless you've edited it.
  • The set's style instructions now allow up to 2,000 characters.
  • The pair has to be in the set's languages; otherwise, nothing is learned from it.
